GOVERNMENT
Roman people were not equal and there were different classes within Roman society. Throught the roman empire the biggest difference between the classes was whether or not they were free. The free born were made up of women and men that had rights thst were guarenteed by law, for example, to find their own work, or to travel around from one place to another. In rome citizens also had the right to vote for government officials, and to recieve free hands-out of food were as slaves had very few rights at all and belonged to their owners just like a pet. The two main clsses of the citizens wer the partricians who were the nobel families whose wealth and position was based of their ownership of large amounts of land, with people working on their land and deepending on them only peoplefrom this class could be members of the senate or hold big official positions in society. The other class of the citizens was the plebians which included all the other citizens of rome. The richest plebians were in charge and took care of collecting taxes and were involved in trade for the government and this class was called the equestrians but on the other hand the plebians living in the cities could be quite poor.
